Meet Wyoming’s Most Beatable Bigot:

Rep. Gary Brown

Representative Gary Brown is a newly elected hard-right Republican who represents one of the most competitive legislative districts in Wyoming—and he’s already using his office to bring the national culture war to Cheyenne. From endorsing school book bans, to pushing inflammatory anti-abortion rhetoric, to aligning with the Freedom Caucus’ agenda of government censorship and social control, Brown has built an extremist platform in a district that is trending away from him.

In 2024, he barely won his seat—defeating a well-organized Democrat by just 4.8%. That came after years of declining Republican margins and a surge in independent and crossover voters who’ve had enough of out-of-touch candidates. Brown may have entered the legislature in 2025, but his campaign for re-election has already begun. And so has ours.

He’s new. He’s extreme. And he’s beatable.

Anti-LGBTQ+ and Anti-Family Record

  • Gary Brown supported removing LGBTQ+ and sex education books from schools, aligning with a national censorship campaign.

  • He backs the Wyoming Freedom Caucus, which seeks bans on pride flags, gender-affirming care, and “critical race theory.”

  • Brown has pushed for tighter curriculum restrictions and offered no support for LGBTQ+ families.

  • He endorsed anti-trans legislation and aligned with his party’s most extreme positions.

Attacks on Reproductive Freedom

  • In 2023, Brown called abortion “killing your own child” and urged women to choose adoption.

  • He offered no exceptions for rape, incest, or medical need—framing abortion as morally indefensible.

  • His rhetoric echoes the nation’s most extreme anti-abortion voices.

  • Brown supports harsher laws than Wyoming’s near-total ban, alienating moderates and younger voters.

Culture War Over Constituents

  • Brown focuses on cultural attacks—not jobs, housing, or healthcare.

  • He’s targeted libraries, schools, and women’s health providers, while refusing press interviews.

  • He’s insulted dissenting voters and barely won his seat.

  • His agenda mirrors the Freedom Caucus playbook: anti-trans policies, curriculum censorship, and educator intimidation.

Key Vulnerabilities

  • Brown won in 2024 with just 52.2%—the slimmest GOP margin statewide.

  • His district has steadily trended blue since 2020.

  • Democrat Jen Solis built bipartisan support and nearly flipped the seat.

  • With growing turnout and shifting demographics, Brown’s base is shrinking—and his record is out of step.

Gary Brown built his political career on culture war politics and moral condemnation.         He publicly shames women who get abortions. He supports censorship of LGBTQ+ books in schools. He aligns with extremist groups while pretending to be moderate. And he barely won.

He has:

  • A 4.8% win margin in a rapidly shifting district

  • A record of anti-abortion zealotry and censorship support

  • No interest in governing beyond the culture war

  • A base that’s shrinking, while independents and Democrats grow

He may be new to the Capitol, but he’s already become the face of far-right extremism in Wyoming’s legislature. And in 2026, voters in Cheyenne will have the chance to send him home.

Rep. Gary Brown is Wyoming’s top 50-for-50 target.
